Water Treatment Plant
The City of Bluffton has been providing safe and reliable drinking water to the community for many years. Bluffton's current Water Treatment Plant went into service in 2021, and provides aeration, filtration, ion exchange softening, and chlorination processes. The plant is supplied by ground water, with total treatment capacity of 4.2 million gallons per day (MGD). The Bluffton facility is a class WT3 treatment plant.
Bluffton's Water Distribution System includes four elevated storage tanks, seven wells that each run approximately 300 feet deep, and approximately 74 miles of water main, which ranges in size from 4 to 16 inches in diameter. The distribution staff is led by DSL-certified operators.
Water Sampling
The Bluffton Water Treatment Plant includes a state-of-the-art bacteriological lab where Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM)-required testing is performed. Water samples are taken from throughout the water distribution system daily as well as quarterly to ensure compliance with IDEM standards. Bluffton's water facility also performs water sample testing for other public water supply systems and private wells. Contact Todd Shady to have your water tested at the Bluffton facility.
