Mayor
Scott A. Mentzer is the mayor of Bluffton, Indiana, taking office on August 1, 2025, after serving more than five years as president of the Bluffton common council. A lifelong leader in both business and public service, Scott is dedicated to strengthening Bluffton’s quality of life by revitalizing neighborhoods, supporting community growth and quality of place initiatives, and transforming the city’s riverfront and downtown into a destination for recreation and investment.
Originally from Delaware, Scott graduated from Tatnall High School in Wilmington in 1983 before moving to Indiana to follow in his father’s footsteps at Tri-State University, where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. He later completed his MBA in Management at the University of Saint Francis. Professionally, Scott has held senior leadership roles throughout the region, including Vice President of Engineering at Wabash Technologies and Director of Engineering and Operations at CTS Corporation. In 2005, he became part owner and Vice President of Phoenix America, guiding the company’s growth until its acquisition by discoverIE in 2020, after which he continued as COO. IN 2008, Scott and his wife, Dayle, founded and owned Wells County Voice, where he connected the community as a broadcaster for hundreds of local sporting events. Wells County Voice continues to serve Bluffton by providing the community with the “Sounds of Worship” program, hosted by Tim Steffen, a tradition it has carried forward for more than 15 years.
Scott and his wife, Dayle, live in a historic Bluffton residence built in 1917 by former Mayor John Mock—colloquially dubbed “Rosehill Manor”—continuing a legacy of civic leadership within its walls. They are active members of the First Church of Christ in Bluffton and share a blended family of seven children: Shaye, Sean, and Sage Mentzer, along with Aaron, Tyler, Alex, and Brandon Evans.
